aha:

My biggest takeaways from creative writing has been the talk we had about elements in class and the other journals we had. In my day to day life, I make it mandatory that I read a little bit everyday, however, writing in my journal is harder to squeeze into my schedule so I greatly appreciated the time we took in class to do some writing. During these times in class, I was able to experiment with different ideas and perspectives.

accomplishments as a reader:

An accomplishment that I’m proud of as a reader is almost getting through Anna Karenina. I say almost because I ended up losing the novel at the library two weeks ago and I haven’t been able to find the time to retrieve it. So even though I didn’t completely finish it, I’m proud of my progress.

future reads:

Currently, my TBR list is dominated by the AP books assigned over the summer and I’m very excited to get started on them as soon as possible.

best book of this semester:

The book I’m currently reading: The Power by Naomi Alderman.

how has reading improved your writing?

Ever since I started school, reading as been a fundamental part of my life. Reading is the reason why I learnt English so quickly and the reason I became so fluent in the arts as well. Reading allowed me to tap into my inner director and through that I was able to discover the part of myself that could write. I was never a huge fan of emulation, even though I think it’s super important, so I mainly became inspired by book ideas rather than the writing itself. However, after my Oscar Wilde/ 19th century/ Romantic poet phase(which is still alive and well) I was able to develop a sense of imagery in my writing and create visual feasts for the reader.

writing accomplishments

One of my accomplishments this year has to be my publishing at Polar Expressions where one of my poems and short stories were published. I also managed to write my longest short stories ever in AP English which was approximately 3934 words long. On top

writing plans:

This summer I will be taking on writing another One Act play.

will you take creative writing again?

I definitely hope it will fit into my schedule next year but if not, I plan to take it in university and throughout my life.

next steps to improve as a writer:

The next steps for me to improve as a writer is to polish the clarity of my writing. I tend to over complicate my sentences to a point where they are sometimes incoherent and I would like to focus on cleaning that up.
